Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing organization working in local communities across all 50 states in the United States and in more than 70 countries around the world. Local affiliates, including Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth, partner with families who need housing and volunteers to build affordable housing. We have provided funds and volunteer labor to several Habitat builds in the Plymouth area. One Habitat build dear to our hearts was the 2021-2023 Emmaline Project. Emmaline is a teenager in our congregation with a severe, debilitating disease that produced blindness. During this project our members helped build a new, safe bedroom and bath for Emmaline and additional living space for her family.
Church volunteers have traveled to Machiasport, ME, to assist with home repairs and improvements for low-income households and to Port Arthur, TX, to support a UCC disaster relief effort. We plan a trip to the Ashville, NC area to help rebuild homes after the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene.
