Pilgrim Canticle
A Pilgrim Canticle was the inspiration of Rev. Gary Marks, Pastor of The Church of the Pilgrimage (1971-2011). Rev. Marks wrote the text and narrated performances in 1996, 1999, 2006, and 2009. The original music selections were made by Music Director William B. Richter and Organist Elizabeth Chapman Reilly.
The 2022 performance linked below was part of the COVID-delayed celebration of the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims’ landing in Plymouth. The Church of the Pilgrimage is a descendant of the early Pilgrim church. The 2022 text was updated by Rick Dower and others and the music selections were edited by Music Director Kelley DePasqua and Organist Michael Eaton. The concluding work for choir and organ, Out of Small Beginnings by Carson Cooman, was commissioned by The Church of the Pilgrimage for this celebration.
