The United Church of Christ (UCC) is a forward-looking, Christian denomination with roots that go back to the First Century Church. More recently, The Church of the Pilgrimage joined the Congregational Christian Churches in 1948. The Congregational Christian Churches and the Evangelical and Reformed Churches merged in 1957 to form the UCC. We are an inclusive and diverse community of Christians connected by our faith that calls us to build a just world for all.
For over four centuries, our church has been weaving God’s message of hope and extravagant welcome with action for justice and peace. We are a church where Jesus the healer meets Jesus the revolutionary, and where together, we seek to grow a just and peaceful world.
We believe in the triune God: Creator, resurrected Christ, and the Holy Spirit, who guides and brings about the creative and redemptive work of God in the world. We believe that each person is unique, valuable, and deserves to be loved.
The Church of the Pilgrimage recognizes the Bible as the sufficient rule of faith and practice and holds that living in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ is the true test of fellowship. All Members shall have the right to follow the Word of God according to the dictates of their own conscience, under the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit.
