This was a good first event lead by Kim Engle .  We had fun and games while at Beech Tree Trail site of Wildlands Trust Emery Preserve.  Also we all had a good open discussion of activities for future meetings. There was much enthusiasm by all attendees.

CHURCH School

Our core beliefs:

Our program of Christian education seeks to introduce children, youth, and adults to the reality of God’s love and the ongoing story of God with us in Jesus Christ.

We believe that Christian education is ultimately about the formation of disciples who will seek to do God’s work in the world.

We hope to bring faith to life through story, song, and action.

We believe that learning the way of Jesus Christ is a lifelong endeavor.

We welcome families of all composition.

OUR CHILDREN’S PROGRAM

Inclusion of children and youth in worship:

Our Sunday School program encourages participation of children and youth in worship.  Special Sundays include Hanging of the Greens, Christmas Eve pageant, Love Feast, Easter Pageant, Blanket Sunday and Children’s Sunday.  We have acolytes for each service and a cherub choir (3 years to 2nd grade) and a junior choir (3rd grade to eighth grade).  Ninth graders and up are invited to join the adult choir.

Most Sundays there is a special “children’s message” after which children depart for Sunday school.  We provide communion education for children grades 5 and under -- a more interactive, hands on approach to help children explore the meaning of Communion.  The children remain in the sanctuary for communion with the whole church.

Service as an expression of our faith:

Various ways our children and youth engage in community service include: food drive, Linus project, Christmas toy drive, school bags, health kits, writing cards for military servicemen and women, helping with the church’s weekly Monday Meals program.

Special Opportunities for Learning:

The confirmation class program is for those eighth grade and older. Topics explored include The Bible, Who is Jesus, and What does it mean to be a person of faith?  Field trips to other worshipping communities and to the Mass Conference Retreat are included. At the end of the class, participants are asked to write a This I Believe” statement.

Safe Church Policy:

All of our childcare workers, Sunday school teachers, and youth leaders are CORI approved.

Adult Education

For adults, there are several opportunities for spiritual education including men’s and weekly bible studies, retreats, book discussion groups and special prayer events such as educational Advent Soup Supper programs.

Our classes are open to all adults whether or not members of the church. Our educational offerings are included each month in the church newsletter and on this website.
